Danny’s fed up. Young and impatient he can’t understand why his life is taking so long to get started. And the biggest pain in his over analytical butt? A love life that makes Mr Bean look like a whore banging sex god. So it is that a cynical and clinical Danny decides to take the risk out of dating and devise a score card for evaluating potential partners. In spite of the protests from Sally (his chubby girl pal back at the office) and the clumsy assistance of his ever present best pal Sam, Danny’s scoring system soon roots out that ‘special’ someone to complete his dream; Geraldine is bright and pretty and ticks all his boxes. Things couldn’t be going better for the young couple but when a violent explosion at work blows away Danny’s superficial values all that's left is an innocence that challenges every decision made so far in his quest for happiness.

The title of this book is really quite clever. It describes the main character's attitude perfectly but it also describes the way in which his assumptions fail. I enjoyed the plot of the book and the bits of humour. The main character, Danny, is ready to settle down. In his mind, the best way to find his perfect life mate is to go about it scientifically. He creates a scorecard and goes about finding women who score high enough for serious consideration. He finally finds one who seems to suit perfectly. He thinks he has it made until an explosion nearly kills him. Then he discovers things weren't as perfect as they seemed.I would have rated this book higher but the writing was a bit weak. There were a number of typos and errors. The dialog was often stilted or awkward. The sentence structure was also awkward sometimes. The POV started off as the main character only, but then started shifting without warning, sometimes mid-paragraph. Overall, the book just needs some polish.
I wouldn't really call this book a romance, at least not in the traditional sense. It wasn't strictly comedy either, although there were some quite funny bits. There were some interesting proposals on how our experiences shape our character and our world view.
